I hate how people talk shit on here. People use the internet to put up a big front. i would love to have the people that talk shit on here say it to my face… Its a fact our tuition has been raised through the roof yet the school only cares about a small portion of the student body. First of all the Compton Cookout had nothing to do with UCSD there just happen to be UCSD students there. If you all haven’t heard it was put together and sanctioned by a black guy… so everyone needs to seattle down… PS. if you have a problem with what i have to say feel free to set up a meeting and will tell you all this to your face.
Wow, where did you “hear” that it was put together by a black guy? It was put together by a few frat boys, whose brothers (one of whom is black) were all aware that it was going on. And I know one of the guys who hosted it. There is no doubt he is a complete bigot and will be for a long time. He can believe what he believes. Whatever.
But lulz, I like how you’re trying to be confrontational on a site that is meant to be anonymous, claiming you will meet up with whoever has a problem without even identifying yourself.
so spending money on ugly artwork, forced emission of black students, and private tutoring for them because they aren’t actually capable of getting in on their own accord makes you proud? i think you can pay my student fees then o proud one.

Ummm… first of all, spending money to increase the number of Black students at UCSD is hardly a waste of money; we accept far more Black students to the school than actually choose to attend; since something’s clearly working to keep them out (perhaps the toxic racist environment that allows something like the Compton Cookout to occur, and then for students to say it’s “not a big deal” or to defend it as a patriotic exercise in free speech), then it’s the administration’s duty to correct the problem by actively recruiting them. Secondly, the university isn’t spending any money on trying to make itself Black; that’s the problem.
maybe we should just get a better basketball team. black students don’t tend to be as interested in the sciences, which is what ucsd is known for. if we had a better business program or nursing we’d probably have more appeal. odds if black students are competitive students, they get into better universities, urm privilege.

toxic racial environment? get off your fucking high-horse and go outside for once. don’t define UCSD’s “environment” through the actions of a few.
most people i can say are very accepting these days. i’m sure blacks choose to not go to UCSD for other reasons besides our “environment.” i’m sure they have their goals set elsewhere.
don’t go accusing the rest of the campus for the things a very small proportion of people were involved in.
and many people are making such a big deal about this for the sake of conflict.
i can assure you that most people had no idea what this fucking Compton Cookout thing was until it got blasted by the administration.
Privilege? As in the privilege of taking 5 AP classes at once, getting A’s and high test scores, and constantly suffering from the lack of sleep and social life so that I could make myself a better career in my future life? If that’s privilege, suck my privileged ass.
Not everyone has the opportunity to “suffer” through AP classes, get A’s (LOL) and make a better career in their future life.

I fucking mixed water in with my milk so that we could make it last longer because we were so damn poor. I was tormented most all year by students and their parents who called me names, spat on me, and would flat out beat me up. I went to school for 6 years of elementary before we finally moved. And I still made it here. Don’t just assume we all have awesome opportunities. Have YOU ever seen your house broken into with derogatory messages written in your bedroom? You want to talk about privilege? Don’t give me that crap about how we have opportunities. Everyone has a damn opportunity. Yes, some have less than others, but don’t assume we all have it good.
